A String of Bad Luck!

Oh man, am I glad this past week was over. My paycheck wasn't as much as we were hoping for, it was late depositing, due to not getting a reminder, we ended up having to check out of the hotel within 4 hours and of course, I had a mental breakdown. A friend of ours agreed to let Claire stay with her for the week and then when she found out we had nowhere to go, she let us stay for 48 hours.

Once we got settled in, we just took the rest of the day to relax. Ryan headed off to work the next day and our friend drove Claire to school with her children. Once I caught my breath, I started making a dozen phone calls trying to find some help either in getting a home or a hotel until the end of the month. Thankfully the company that has been paying for the hotel for the past few months, got special permission to pay for the rest of the month. However, the place that we were at kept being overbooked and so they had us stay at this one place for a few days and then transfer back to the old one this weekend.

I wish it was as simple as it sounded. The hotel they put us in for the few days lost our reservation and thankfully my amazing mother-in-law helped bail us out. After it was all paid for the dumb clerk found our reservation and refunded my MIL. We thought the hotel in Richmond we stayed at was bad, this takes the cake. The fridge was unplugged. Ryan went to plug it in and water went EVERYWHERE! Apparently, someone had ice in there, and then when it got unplugged it melted. The only good thing about the hotel was the guy who worked at housekeeping and made sure we had enough towels to clean it all up.

Saturday I counted down the minutes until we could leave and as soon as Ryan was ready to go, we checked out and headed to the original hotel. I went in to find out which room they put us in (hoping for downstairs and an end room) but whatever card the company used, had an issue so they canceled our room and gave it to someone else. And of course, they were all full... AGAIN! I tried to get ahold of someone to help fix the problem but we don't have an after-hours number (which is weird because they have cell phones) and none of the other places I had a list of that could help was closed for the weekend. After having a mild breakdown with my dad, he agreed to help us out for the weekend. With whatever was going on in Lynchburg, every hotel in the area was booked.

We found a hotel in Altavista and not only is the hotel an improvement but the area is absolutely fantastic. On the way to the hotel, I had lost my voice out of the blue. Nothing else was wrong, my throat wasn't hurting, I wasn't coughing... I felt fine... Other than I couldn't talk. I've since then gotten better, however, my throat now is having a few minor issues. Might have to look into seeing a doctor and get it checked out.

Claire and I did the laundry while playing Life, The Pirate of the Caribbean version (Picture below). It is such an epic version of Life and I definitely think I am going to get myself a copy once our life calms down. Gonna fold the laundry and organize the bags better. Then I am going to try to finish my dad's present and if I still have time, I think I might even get some world-building in on the Coven Trilogy.

Oh yeah! Anne Stokes posted a new art piece of a female centaur being an elemental magic user (Picture below). I was inspired to create a book of an all-female centaur group of witches. As I started to world build, I also created an all-male centaur group. But if you know me, I was not okie with just a male and female group, so I made a misfit group with every centaur that does not fit the social norm. I have brother-sister twin centaurs, I have a centaur that I am designing off of my amazing sisber, and I even have a centaur that is deaf! Which to me is the biggest one, because they always seem to be left out of most stories out there. If you check out the Adult Book tab, you can see the names of all three of the books! I do plan to get started during Camp NaNoWriMo come April, but I don't think this trilogy will be complete until the end of the year.

I may have to take time off being a substitute teacher and work at the current hotel that we are at. We will need the discount in order to keep staying here at the end of the month. The manager will be getting back to me tomorrow and we will see what happens. I am super sad to have to switch, but with no apartment prospects, it looks as if we are going to be living in a hotel until the end of May / the beginning of June. That is, assuming things work out how we hope and we don't run into any more problems.

I hope this week will be better than the last two, and you all have a great week. Blessed Be and may the Gods and Goddesses shine down on you.

Until Next Time,

Meg
